A little about our past
From our founder Isabel:
I had first dreamed of Plantamor while sitting in a Psychology classroom during my first year at university. One of our teachers asked what motivated us to study psychology, and suddenly an image came to me…
An island, a social experiment, a group of carefully selected people coming together to live, raise children, organize themselves, and essentially create a new model of life centered around caring for the psycho-emotional well-being of its inhabitants.
As the years of university passed, I gradually forgot that crazy idea, but the seed remained somewhere in my unconscious, waiting to be validated, planted, watered, and cared for.
Years later, while traveling in Senegal — having already let go of the “non-linear modern culture lifestyle” — the dream moved through me again when I felt ready to become a mother… I couldn’t imagine any other way of raising children than in community and in nature.
My close friend and co-founder Clara and I felt deeply called by manifesting a land where we could hold space for humans on their journey of self-discovery and healing.
We found this desert-like land in the southeast of Tenerife, and its owner, Loli, who offered us to stay for free after resonating with our longings and dreams.
Without water, electricity, or nests, we lived an initial stage in a similar way to myself and Clara's experience in Senegal: Living day by day, from hand to mouth, sleeping in tents, gathering wood to cook over fire, and co-operating to carry out the important missions needed for survival.
This is how we found the land
This is how green and abundant it is becoming.
Plantamor has grown thanks to many small seeds of action.
Many people have been part of this living experiment.
Many different dreams have found a home here.
So much love has been poured into every rock that was moved, every nest that was built, every hole dug to plant a tree.
Over the years, many have become guardians of this land.
Some left without any visible trace.
Others left behind a nest.In every case, the invisible imprint of what they lived, shared, and created here has shaped what Plantamor is today.
